While the faculty and staff at Prairie Lake Elementary are fluent in many languages, our langue taught is English.
We are proud to partner with Champions as our before and afterschool program.
We have many opportunities for engagement at Prarie Lake Elementary School! We have 15 active and unique clubs on our campus, with the majority of them being offered monthly during the school day. Some clubs also meet both before and after school. Our Praire Lake Music Program has both a club and curricular offerings. They give opportunities for students to attend festivals, as well as hosting several afterschool events on the campus. We also will partner with Amazing Athletes for the 2025-2026 school year, to offer more opportunities for students to engage in extracurricular activities. Here is more information regarding Amazing Athletes!
We have an active School Advisory Committee (SAC) and Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). These groups meet on the second Tuesday of the month. We also strive to ensure we are maximizing our relationships in the business community. If you are interesting in partnering with us, please contact Amanda Choplin, Prarie Lake Assistant Principal.
Prairie Lake Elementary School, originally Clarcona Elementary School, was established in 1986 on Damon Road in Apopka, Florida. In 2013, the school moved to it’s present location at 8723 Hackney Prairie Road while the original site was scheduled to undergo renovation. In January 2016, the Orange County School Board approved a name change to Prairie Lake Elementary, reflecting the nearby park and neighborhood. The school also adopted the panther as its mascot and purple, black, and gold as its colors.
